'The ultimate goal of man is to attain Kaivalya' Patanjali

Welcome to Kaivalya Yoga for Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes with Sandra in the Manchester area
What is Astanga Yoga?
The Astanga Vinyasa style of Yoga is a dynamic and vigorous yoga practice that was derived and founded by K Pattabhi Jois. The practice uses breath synchronised movements to move from one Asana (posture) to another and places emphasis of the union of body and mind to cultivate an inner core strength.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is the name given to any style of yoga that acts in a more passive/restorative way. Its basis comes from a Taoist flow theory and works with the bodys' Meridians and Chi, and from the Hatha Yoga Asanas. The focus is with the connective (Yin) tissue, so to reach this the muscle (Yang) tissue must be relaxed. Therefore postures are held for longer periods (typically 3 to 5 minutes) to work deeper.

What is Yoga Nidra?
Also known as 'Yogic Sleep' but you dont sleep, it is the conscious awareness between wakefulness and sleep and offers a deep meditation. Each Nidra works with a Sankalpa, and uses mutliple techniques of body scanning, pranayama, visualisation to impact our psyhche to assist with relaxtion, healing and balance of body and mind.
